I’m Sophie Laurenson, founder of MedDev Central. With 20 years of experience in the medical device industry—as a startup founder, corporate scientist, and investor—I’ve had the privilege of working alongside innovators, investors, and end-users to navigate the unique challenges of this complex field.
I’m passionate about exploring new ways to develop, commercialise and promote the adoption of medical technology that is socially, environmentally and financially sustainable.
MedDev Central was born during the COVID-19 pandemic, inspired by the glaring gaps in medical technology access that affected us all. Access challenges result from long-standing systemic issues within the industry, affecting every stage of the medical device lifecycle. What started as a simple idea has become a thriving virtual hub—connecting and supporting organisations across the healthcare continuum.
